Como Precificar seus Serviços Freelance: 7 Passos

Most freelancers underprice because they price their time. Clients don't buy time — they buy results. A $30 product description that saves a shop owner $300 of guesswork is a bargain at any price. This framework gets you paid fairly from job one.

Pick a pricing model first

1. Fixed price beats hourly for beginners

Fixed prices ("$40 per blog post", "$25 per template") are easier to sell, easier for clients to approve, and don't punish you for getting faster. Hourly rewards slowness; fixed rewards competence. Use fixed for deliverables, hourly only for ongoing work.

2. Know your floor before you quote

Your floor = the minimum you'll accept without resentment. A simple formula: your desired monthly income ÷ billable hours per month. If you want $1,000/month and can bill 25 hours, your floor is $40/hour — even if you start below it to win reviews.

The 7-step pricing framework

3. Price to win your first 3–5 jobs

Beginner rates are an investment, not a discount. On Upwork and Fiverr, $10–$20/hour or $15–$50 per small deliverable wins reviews fast. Treat those first reviews as part of the price.

4. Always quote a range, then let them choose

Offer a basic/mid/premium tier ("3 days for $40, 2 days for $60, 1 day for $90"). Clients pick a tier and feel in control — and the middle tier is usually what they choose.

5. Add scope guardrails to every quote

Write what's included (2 revisions, 500 words, 1 round of feedback). "Unexpected extras" are where freelance income dies. The quote is your first contract — see contract clauses for enforcement.

6. Raise rates with evidence, not time

Raise 10–20% after every 3–5 completed jobs or when you're consistently booked out. Evidence = reviews, repeat clients, and faster delivery. If you're turning work away, you're under-priced.

7. Charge for outcomes, not hours

As you gain proof, switch to value pricing: a landing page that "will be written to convert visitors" costs more than "4 hours of writing." Frame everything by the client's result, not your effort.

Start here: write your basic/mid/premium tiers for your one service. Three prices, three delivery speeds. That's your pricing system.

Pricing connects to the rest of the freelancing system: pick something worth selling first (choose a niche), then get paid safely with contracts, and keep more of it with our tax guide. If you're brand new, start with the complete freelancing guide.

FAQ
